Aquarium Lighting??????????????

I have a tetra art aquarium that has a 15 watt lighting system do i have to use the tetra bulbs or could i use a different make as i want to do a reef tank and would like to get a bulb which is compatible for corals. would this work?? would like answers from people who have had experience ith this tank not just a proberly thanks

If this comes across kinda of harsh, I apologize. I’m just trying to be straight-forward when I say that you aren’t even scratching the surface.

I’m currently keeping soft corals, which are generally low on the light requirements, with 4 54-watt T-5 bulbs. Even then, I try to keep the corals up on the rock work whenever possible. Some corals can get by with less light than what I provide, but not by much. I personally wouldn’t try to get away with less than what I have. For more photointensive corals, my lightning would be only be a drop in the bucket of necessity.

Lighting is not an area of unanimous consent among aquarists. If you have experience with saltwater and you’d like to move up to corals, I strongly suggest following some online forums and making your best judgment based on what you read there.
